I purchased my
1967.5 2000 in early 1998. I believe that the car was originally from Oregon but It
somehow ended up in the San Francisco Bay Area. It is an original 1967.5 2 Liter car with
matching numbers and original color. It also has the Solex Carb and Cam set up to which
makes it a 150hp motor. The car is very complete too. It has all of the side molding and
gauges. The clock and radio even works! But the interior needed some freshening up. It now
has a new carpet kit, door panels, seat and headrest covers, rear shelf padding and some
general cleaning too. The engine has been rebuilt along with the transmission. The block
has been repainted blue and the tranny was repainted silver. The brakes have also been
worked on. New Master Cylinder and slave units. Also new calipers and brake lines have
been installed.
I am currently preparing the car for some
Vintage Racing. Hoping that I will be taking part in some track action by spring of '99. Currently I use the 2000 in club track sessions and time
trails at Thunderhill Raceway here in Northern California. I may do some auto-x but my
dream is to be on the track with other cars. A little extra prep was required to make the
car better for the track. It has a competition sway bar on the front and Koni shocks all
around. I recently installed a rollbar and a Simpson five-point racing harness. I am also
currently running with Nissan ZX steel wheels with Dunlop D60 A2 Street tires. I have an
extra set of Libra mags that I will run competition tires on. Recently installed is a 7
quart aluminum oil pan with baffle.
Not only do I
enjoy the car on the track but I have been known to drive it some pretty long distances. I
recently drove my Roadster 3500+ mile road trip. I drove from San Francisco, Ca to
Albuquerque, New Mexico to attend the '98 Z-Car National Convention. Then just this past
October '98 I drove it to San Diego and back for the Surfside All Datsun Meet. That was
another 1200+ miles round trip. If you follow the Datsun circuits here on the West Coast
you are sure to see me at many of the events such as Shasta or Solvang or some of the
Z-Owners of NorCal events.
My most recent modification to the car is a glove box door that was personally autographed by Mr. Katayama himself. Mr. K, the President of Nissan USA was kind enough to autograph it when I presented it to him at the Surfside All Datsun Meet on Oct 24, '98.
