Redux powertrain notes 2 | |
In layman's terms, it means when I am driving normally, not using boost, the car will have more punch. For 510 guys it's like going from an L16 to an L20B - even in normal driving you notice the extra torque, you don't need to use as much accelerator travel to get the same acceleration. Remember, this will be a daily driver, not some dyno queen. If I was shooting for strictly the fastest 1/4mi time or highest dyno number, the same turbos that I am going to use to make 400 wheel HP at 7.5PSI or so (the VQ has 10.3:1 compression, not exactly prime for boost) bolted to a VG30DETT will make between 480-520HP because the VG is set up for boost from the factory and thus has lower static compression as well as other turbo-ready items like sodium filled valves, etc. Other advantages include a huge and growing aftermarket support, as well as a larger pool of knowledge since the VQ35 was installed in no less than seven different Nissan and Infiniti available vs the 300ZX-only VG30DETT
