The engine

The engine has arrived! Note clicking on these images brings up an 800x600
file that's about 450Kb for each file, so slower connections have to wait a bit.

From this: to this
(Yeah OK it looks the same from above...)

This is a JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) engine - meaning it's a low mileage engine from Japan. I went this route for a couple of reasons: 1) SPRISO Motorsports -  whom e I've had excellent dealing with previously and helped with my now defunct (my choosing) SR20 (2.0L) turbo project - was able to source me an excellent low mileage engine from Japan and 2) For the price of this JDM twin turbo, I would have had to settle for a much higher mileage U.S. twin turbo engine.

Not much more to add at this time other than that here we go down another long road...

Here's what we're looking at: Picture 1 shows how far it is from the bottom of the turbo to the top of the manifold - just over 16" . Picture 2 is a measurement from the top of the frame rail to manifold top - looks like just over 16" to me! Hopefully this means we won't have to butcher the frame rail TOO much to fit the turbos...

Next up is firewall clearance and how the turbo manifold looks in relation to it. There's about 4" from the back of the engine to the firewall, pictures 3 and 4 below show that the factory downpipe goes back 6" from the engine block.

About 24" across the back, turbo to turbo...
