Some notables:
* Fuse box relocated - moved from factory
location to a custom mount in front of where the OEM one was. This is
where the wiring was most spaghetti like and Steven did an awesome
job, as this mount is more like a box and the wiring sits underneath
it. This is also the area where the harness for the ECU passes through
the firewall and this is now nicely hidden as well.
* Vacuum hose plenum: The factory has vacuum
bosses everywhere as seemingly random locations. Steven created a
vacuum plenum into which *all* the vacuum connections originate from.
This is one of those things that would have never occurred to me to
change. Slick!
* With the installation of an Apex'i AFC fuel
mixture controller he was able to remove the JWT "idle air correction
kit". Long story but suffice to say it removed 6ft of 3/4" rubber hose
from the engine bay.
* Pipes from intercooler to intake plenum are
now mandrel bends. While I can't imagine how long it took him to do it
I do know it cost me over $100 in parts for perhaps two feet worth of
pipe, looks bitchin' though!
* High-quality T-clamps on all intercooler
hose connections replacing multiple standard hose clamps at
intercooler connections. Also silicone hose connects between IC piping
and intake manifold.
* Strut towers now have the OEM 510 caps on
top and he did some other detail work there. The strut towers look
amazingly better.
* Just about everything painted and/or
detailed. All cosmetic work was done with the engine IN the car!
* Mega wiring reduction, rerouting, and
clean-up. Awesome!!!
* Fan shroud/radiator cover.
* Chrome Allen head bolts.
* Removed brackets/vacuum nipples from intake
balance tube
Numerous other items that are just too
numerous to list. I actually took an engine bay picture and started
marking everywhere Steven changed something, but he made so many
changes it turned into a mish-mash of arrows because so many thing
changed! Yes, I'm in awe of my own engine bay -does that make me vain?
This takes nothing away from the work Ron has
into this swap, trust me. I cannot imagine dong the swap as these
cosmetics all in one shot, and my guess is people that DO try all this
at once are the guys who never finish the project. Also, even with all
this work Steven had to stop himself from doing several other things
in the engine bay!
It's amazing how much room there is underhood
now, it doesn't look nearly as crowded! The passenger side turbo is
now very clearly in view.
Thank you Steven Pepka!!
